Tall Ships Australia and New Zealand is calling for applications for two voluntary positions to jointly fill the Youth Representative role on the Committee, for a term of two years.

Youth representatives play an important role as a voice for Australian and New Zealand youth crew and trainees on the TANZ Comittee, and also on the Sail Training International Youth Council. You’ll contribute to committee discussions, provide advice on youth issues, and support the Committee in generating youth involvement in sail training activities and the wider sail training community.

Selection Criteria (Mandatory)

• Age: 18-27
• Australian or New Zealand citizen
• Active involvement in sail training
• Volunteer or member with a TANZ Operator
• Has undertaken a voyage on a Tall Ship

Selection Criteria (Desirable)

• Has participated in the Sail Training International Tall Ships Races
• Active involvement in sailing

Requirement:

The Youth Representatives are expected to be available for the following meetings, in addition to contributing to working groups, projects and events as agreed during the term of appointment.

• The TANZ Annual General Meeting (Sydney/conference call)
• Biannual Operator Meetings (various locations / conference call)
• TANZ Committee meetings via conference call (four per year)
• STI Youth Council Meetings via conference call (approx. six per year).
• STI Youth Conference via zoom, or in person.

In addition, the Youth Representatives may be asked to represent TANZ at events, conferences and meetings with stakeholders as agreed during the term ofappointment.
