Tall Ships Australia and New Zealand is pleased to confirm the following details and agenda for the 2023 Annual General Meeting.

Committee Nominations

All Committee positions will be open for nomination and election, and regular business will be conducted, including presentation of the annual accounts. Nominations for the Committee are being sought ahead of the Annual General Meeting. Positions subject to vote by the membership are:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Committee Member*

*Committee Members may be appointed to lead activities and initiatives as agreed by the Committee throughout the year.

Members and Operator representatives are encouraged to nominate for the Committee to increase the committee’s diversity and expand its perspective. Committee positions are individual growth opportunities, ideal for those who want to explore a policy area or an initiative to develop or expand sail training.

Persons wishing to nominate for the Committee should complete the nomination form including a brief biography and statement of nomination of no more than 100 words. Nomination forms seconded by a financial member should be emailed and should be received no later than Thursday 30 November 2023.

If the number of nominations received exceeds the number of vacancies to be filled, a ballot will be held.

Operator Conference – December 2023

The biannual Operators Conference is an important opportunity for Operators to meet, network and engage on issues relevant to the industry. Operators are invited to attend by Zoom using the same url as the AGM.

Operators are hereby given notice that the next Operator Conference will be held in Sydney on Saturday, 9 December 2023, preceding the Annual General Meeting.

Operators are encouraged to notify the committee of initiatives and achievements to be shared with delegates, or to nominate to present at the Conference. Operator Reports and images can be forwarded via email.

Annual Awards

Each year, Tall Ships Australia and New Zealand awards

  • the Ken Murray Billy Can Award, for an outstanding achievement in the youth development sail training arena; and
  • the Tall Ships Australia and New Zealand Medallion, awarded to
    • young persons between the ages of 16 and 23 years who have shown outstanding personal achievement during a voyage; or to
    • individuals who have shown outstanding personal achievement either on board or in support of the organisation’s vessel.

Operators are invited to submit nominations for these awards. Nomination forms can be emailed.

Nominations for the Billy Can Trophy must be received by 30 November 2023. Guidance is available regarding eligibility criteria.

Nominations for Tall Ships Australia and New Zealand Medallions can be submitted throughout the year. For acknowledgement during the Annual General Meeting, nominations should be received by 30 November 2023.
