Windeward Bound Nominated for Community Award
Vote for our wonderful STV Windeward Bound in the Community Awards.
This funding will give 200 disadvantaged students access to Learning the Ropes programs, plus 5 scholarships for our December Youth Leadership Challenge — building brighter futures.
A taste of life aboard a tall ship — and often a spark that lights up a young person’s sense of what’s possible. Participants rotate through hands-on watch stations: climbing the mast, rowing our 20ft whaleboat as a team, and tackling fun team-building challenges, before helping set sail for the journey home.
Trainees take on every part of shipboard life — from cleaning to steering to climbing aloft. We’ve seen first-hand how this experience builds lasting confidence, leadership, resilience, teamwork, and a real “have a go” spirit that stays with these young people long after they step off the ship.
