The spectacular Buque Escuela Esmeralda, of the Chilean Navy, will return to Sydney on Thursday 1 August 2019.
A steel-hulled, four-masted barquentine, Esmeralda is 113m long and has a mast height of 48.5m, with a crew of 335. The ship has a long and proud history of training Chilean sailors and is a right of passage for Chilean Navy personnel.
Esmeralda is currently undertaking her 64th training cruise, which includes visits to both Australia (Sydney) and New Zealand (Wellington and Auckland)..
Set to dock at Garden Island, Esmeralda will be welcomed and escorted into Sydney Harbour by a fleet of vessels including the tall ships Young Endeavour, Soren Larsen and James Craig.
Opportunities to join the fleet to welcome Esmeralda to Sydney – and witness a spectacular 21 Gun Salute – or to farewell the vessel are now available.
