Coral Trekker

2020 will prove an exciting year for Coral Trekker – the quaintest tall ship in Sydney Harbour Tall Ships’ fleet. She is a square rigged topsail ketch known by many after decades of sailing the beautiful Whitsundays.

Sydney Harbour Tall Ships will be offering two exciting coastal voyage programs, in Victoria and Queensland.

Victoria

The first voyages will see Coral Trekker sail south in February. Starting from Sydney, she’ll embark on a 7-day voyage to Paynesville then a 4 day voyage to Geelong and an overnighter to Williamstown. She and her crew (will that be you?!) will be participating in several fun-filled festivals – the Paynesville Classic Boat Rally, Geelong Wooden Boat Festival and Williamstown Marine Week. Day Sailing and Bed & Breakfast will also be available at the festivals. Ending our more-than-a-month-long adventure, a 12-day return trip from Williamstown to Sydney wraps-up our Coastal voyages to Victoria for 2020.

Queensland

Continuing the adventure, Coral Trekker’s next voyages will take us to Queensland. Departing Sydney, we’ll have 10 days to sail for Mooloolaba with great harbours and bays along this beautiful coastline. Onward from Mooloolaba a further 10 days the coast gives way to Islands and coral reefs on our way to Airlie Beach. Once in Airlie Beach, Island Hopping cruises will be available. We are really excited to have Coral Trekker back where she spent over 25 years of cruising. During that time she showed thousands of lucky people the Whitsundays and this wonderful area. Will you be next?

In June/July Coral Trekker will offer four individual six day trips in Airlie Beach for those looking for a short break. The owners will then deliver Coral Trekker to Cooktown where she will take part in the re-enactment of the arrival of Captain Cook on 17 July. We hope to make this occasion a point for reflection of the interaction of European and our indigenous people and much collaboration is being undertaken now so this reflection will assist in moving forward as a wonderful nation together. We will be an important part of Cooktown’s Expo 2020. What a way to see the top end.

The festival will certainly be a highlight but then we have the wonderful opportunity to explore this coastline on our return to Arlie Beach. Once in Airlie Beach we’ll offer our last Island Hopping cruises for 2020 before heading off Mooloolaba. Our final leg of coastal voyaging to Queensland, will be from Mooloolaba, setting sail for home – Sydney and what a welcome she’ll receive.
