Young Endeavour Youth Scheme – STS Young Endeavour

Australia’s national Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour was gifted by the United Kingdom to mark the Bicentenary in 1988, and dedicated to the benefit of the young people of Australia. Each year Young Endeavour delivers a challenging program of youth development voyages for Australians aged 16 to 23 years, and a program of day sails for youth with special needs. The ship mainly operates in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia, but has circumnavigated Australia four times, visited New Zealand and Indonesia, and twice circumnavigated the world. The internationally recognised Young Endeavour Youth Development Program develops enduring social skills benefiting individual participants and the Australian community.

Australian National Maritime Museum – HMB Endeavour

HMB Endeavour is the acclaimed replica of the famous ship of discovery captained by Lieutenant James Cook in 1768–71. The vessel is managed, voyaged and displayed by the Australian National Maritime Museum, in Sydney. Voyages are open to crew members of all ages and nationalities.

Sydney Heritage Fleet – James Craig

The iron hulled barque James Craig (launched in 1874 as Clan Macleod) is rightly famous as Sydney’s only 19th Century square rigger. The vessel’s incredible restoration to full sailing condition was recognised in 2003 by the World Ship Trust’s award of their prestigious Maritime Medal. This beautiful ship regularly goes to sea and is open for public inspection at her berth in Pyrmont. She is also available for charter. Voyages and day sails depart from Sydney and are open to crew of all ages and nationalities.

Sydney Harbour Tall Ships – Soren Larsen, Southern Swan & Coral Trekker

The brigantine Søren Larsen is one the few authentic timber square riggers still operating in the 21st century. Based in Sydney, she offers daily harbour sails, charters and continues to set out on voyages to remote tropical destinations in the Pacific and around the world. Southern Swan is a timber barquentine, built in Denmark in 1922. She sails Sydney’s famous harbour, providing day trips for up to 90 guests, exclusive charters and occasional offshore trips up and down the New South Wales Coast. Coral Trekker is the quaintest tall ship in Sydney Harbour Tall Ships’ fleet. She is a square rigged topsail ketch known by many after decades of sailing the beautiful Whitsundays.

Enterprize Ship Trust – Enterprize

Melbourne’s tall ship Enterprize is a scale replica of the 1830 topsail schooner Enterprize, built in Hobart, which brought the first European settlers from Tasmania to Victoria in 1835 to found the city of Melbourne. Now in her 20th year of operation, Enterprize provides an authentic 19th-century sailing experience for all Victorians.  Run by a crew of volunteers, she is visited by thousands of school children every year for short sails or longer voyages and is open for public sails during weekends and summers.

Windeward Bound Trust – Windeward Bound

Windeward Bound is a 33 metre symbol of enterprise and a commitment to provide youth with an opportunity to enjoy and learn skills otherwise out of their reach. Since 1996, Windeward Bound has covered more than 100,000 nautical miles, proving time and time again the value of Australian youth participating in a structured Sail Training Program on a traditional square rigged vessel. The ship’s program includes day sails from Hobart, Tasmania, as well as student, public and private voyages along the Tasmanian, Victorian and New South Wales coasts.

Tasmanian Sail Training Association – Lady Nelson

The replica wooden brig Lady Nelson launched at Woodbridge, Tasmania in 1988. Lady Nelson is run by the Tasmanian Sail Training Association, whose mission is to provide sail training opportunities to the youth of Tasmania, and to educate Tasmanians in the skills and history of sailing in the area. Lady Nelson undertakes short sails, charters, and can be hired for private events.

Heritage Sailing Tasmania Ltd – SV Rhona H

SV Rhona H is a gaffed rigged ketch built in Tasmania between 1942 and 1947. Originally built as a fishing vessel, then as an abalone vessel, Rhona H was restored in 2014 to share with the tall ship community and all those wishing to experience her majestic beauty.  Rhona H operates from Hobart, Tasmania offering half day sails on the Derwent River, full day sails to Kettering, and longer trips to Bruny Island and Port Arthur, as well as custom sailing programs for individuals and small groups.

Bass Strait Maritime Centre- Julie Burgess

The ketch Julie Burgess was built in Launceston in 1936, and operates out of East Devonport, Tasmania. Julie Burgess has been listed as an historical marine vessel and she operates as a tourist vessel, offering passengers the opportunity to relive the classic days of sailing in Bass Strait. Yukon-Tours – Yukon

Yukon was built in 1930 as an oak on oak, ketch rigged sailing vessel with a 67 hp auxiliary tuxham motor. From 1974 up until 1997, Yukon sailed as a pleasure boat and became well known around the various regattas here in Denmark. From 1997-2004, Yukon underwent a major restoration including a new engine and electric systems, and now operates in Tasmania.

Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation Ltd – Leeuwin II

STS Leeuwin II is Western Australia’s own Tall Ship, a barquentine with over 810 square metres of sail and an overall length of 55 metres. Leeuwin II is a working ship and all voyage participants are expected to be involved in most aspects of ship operations, from sailing, steering and navigating to cleaning the ship and climbing the mast. Duyfken 1606 Replica Foundation – Duyfken

Duyfken is an exact replica of the original Dutch ship and apart from a few modern touches necessary to meet standards she has been kept true to her original design.  At just under 20 metres in length she boasts 3 masts, a fore square and fore main and a lateen mizzen mast. Capable of achieving up to 7 knots, Duyfken performs well under sail. Since first sailing on July 10 1999, the Duyfken replica has undertaken five major sea-going voyages and is regularly open to the public at Fremantle, Western Australia.

Queensland Sail Training Association – South Passage

South Passage is a 100-foot long gaff rigged schooner. She has two masts – the aft mast being taller than the foremast – and flies four sails – a main sail, fore sail and two headsails. She was purpose built in 1993 to give young people aged 14 to 17 a unique experience at sea. She was launched on 23 September 1993 and since then she has taken over 40,000 students on voyages of up to seven days. South Passage is run and owned by the not for profit volunteer organisation, The Sail Training Association of Queensland.

Friends of the One & All Sailing Ship Inc – One & All

The completion in 1987 of the One and All was the fulfilment of a dream of a dedicated team of volunteers who had worked for many years to have a purpose built vessel in South Australia operating as a Sail Training Vessel, running Youth Development courses.
